Abstract

The work aims to identify existing scientific concepts for determining the engineering and artistic components in the designer’s professional activity and select those relevant to the current context.

General scientific research methods, analytical, typological, semantic and comparative analysis are used for terminological definition of the conceptual framework of the designer’s professional profile and outlining its theoretical and artistic application.

The author revealed non-identical definitions of engineering and artistic components in the professional activity of the designer were based on the analysis of modern foreign and Ukrainian design. Therefore, the issue of the ratio of these components is updated. Furthermore, the evolution of the designer’s engineering and artistic competencies is directly related to the progress in professional education, which involves the use of many innovative technologies in training future specialists.

The author found both of these components in the designer’s competence should be correlated in a proportion depending on certain conditions and design objectives. The author concluded that an art component should consist of cultural, art, psychological and social components. In the end, the author summarized the concepts of the designer’s competencies and professional profile. The study results can be used in the practice of teaching design, engineering and other related subjects.
